Children participating in The “Dream Big—READ!” summer reading program throughout the Union County Library System are not only dreaming big, but reading big as well! And, it’s not too late to join in the fun!
“The goal of the summer reading program is to encourage children to read throughout the summer,” explains Mary Harrison, head of Children’s Services at The Public Library for Union County. “And although we are a little over halfway through program, it’s never too late to start summer reading!”
Currently, there are 354 children enrolled in the summer reading program among the three system libraries—The Public Library for Union County, Lewisburg; Herr Memorial Library, Mifflinburg; and West End Library, Laurelton.
Children are required to log the number of books, number of hours, or number of pages read as part of the program. So far, the participants in the summer reading program have logged over 1,000 hours, more than 2,500 books and close to 50,000 pages!
