The Union County Library System, which includes The Public Library of Union County, Herr Memorial Library and West End Library, is hosting its annual Summer Reading Kick-off Event on Friday, June 6th at the Mifflinburg Community Park. This year’s Summer Reading theme is “Fizz, Boom, READ” which explores all things science.
To explore the theory that kindness is contagious, readers can participate in “The Kind Acts Experiment” to spark a positive reaction within the Union County community. This experiment is designed to motivate, encourage, inform and inspire those living and working within Union County to perform various acts of volunteerism, good deeds, charity, donation, fundraising and overall acts of kindness to fellow individuals, charities and organizations in need.
Help test this theory and turn this “experiment” into a “movement.”
- Stop by the circulation desk of any Union County Library and pick up a copy of a Spark Card (a version for kids and a version for teens/adults are available)
- Complete five (5) kind acts. (On the “Kind Acts Spark Card,” color one (1) spark symbol for every kind act that you do and briefly write what the kind acts were on the lines provided.)
- Connect five (5) boxes in a row either across, up, down or diagonally to complete the “SPARK”! Simply return your completed form to any Union County Library to receive a free gift while supplies last.
The Kind Acts Experiment will run June 2nd thru August 15th. So the question is….do you have the spark?
