What’s happening
Here’s what’s going on and coming up:
- Local history ‘Evening of Remembering’
In honor of the 200th anniversary of the founding of the village of Laurelton (1811-2011), the library will host an “Evening of Remembering” at 6:30 p.m. on Thurs., Oct. 20.
Several long-time and lifelong residents of the area will be on hand to tell stories. Although all kinds of subjects may be covered, memories of holidays and traditions, especially of Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas will be featured.
Anyone who is interested in participating is welcome to share stories or to listen to memories of Laurelton’s past. Light refreshments will be served.
Please register by calling 570-922-4773 so that seating can be arranged.
Card-making class for older teens, adults
Lori Jo Showalter will lead a card-maikng class for older teens and adults from 10 a.m. to noon on Sat., Nov. 12. Please register so that enough materials will be available.
Library cards:
Hey teens, did you know that you can get your own library card? The cards, which may be used at all three Union County libraries — as well as other libraries across the state that participate in the Pennsylvania Access program — are available free of charge to resident students. Simply fill out an application form and have it signed by a parent or legal guardian.
